Penang Silambam Team Set to Compete at BMAEX Tournament 2025 in Labuan

Penang, 5 December 2025 – The Persatuan Silambam Pulau Pinang (Penang Silambam Association) is set to represent Penang at the BMAEX Tournament 2025, an annual international martial arts event held in Labuan, Malaysia, from December 5th to 7th, 2025. A flag-off ceremony was held on December 4th, 2025, to officially send off the team and offer support for their participation in the prestigious competition.

BMAEX serves as a significant platform for martial artists from diverse backgrounds to demonstrate their expertise and skills. The Penang Silambam team's participation underscores the region's commitment to promoting and preserving traditional martial arts.

 

The flag-off ceremony was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Dato’ Rama, Special Officer to the Deputy Chief Minister of Penang; Seberang Perai Councillor A. PonnuDurai; Mr. C. Linggeswaran; Mr. Alagesan, Chairman of PKAPP (Persatuan Kebajikan Amal Pulau Pinang); Mr. G.V. Kautham, Head of the PKAPP Youth Bureau; as well as Mr. Prem and Mr. Thesigan. Their attendance highlighted the strong support from local government and community organizations for the Penang Silambam team.


The Persatuan Silambam Pulau Pinang aims to showcase the rich heritage of Silambam, a traditional martial art form originating from Tamil Nadu, India, and deeply rooted in Malaysian culture. The team's participation in BMAEX 2025 is expected to not only promote the art form but also foster cultural exchange and camaraderie among martial artists from around the world.
